Are you interested in studying the vastness of the world? Are you interested in discovering how to serve God by applying scientific principles to meet people's needs?

Physical science and mathematics help us understand the nature of the physical world around us, what it is, and how it functions. The physical sciences, such as physics and chemistry, examine matter and energy and the way the universe behaves. Applied mathematics supplies the language and logical interconnectedness to describe (using numbers and specialized symbols) more accurately what we have observed.

Applied fields such as engineering physics and computer science allow you to take foundational knowledge in mathematics and physics to create solutions to help solve real-world problems or the develop solutions for complex engineering and scientific questions. At Vanguard University, you can study these subjects in a Christian environment with highly qualified faculty and an emphasis on practical application.

In the Department of Physical Sciences & Applied Mathematics, our hands-on approach to learning ensures that students not only grasp theoretical concepts but also acquire practical skills. The program boasts a wide variety of modern instrumentation, and the operation of these instruments is not just a part of the curriculum but a valuable marketable skill. Through strategic partnerships with industry leaders and the local community, you will have opportunities to find internships, mentorships, and expand your potential career options.

The department also actively encourages student research, providing a platform for aspiring scientists and mathematicians to explore their interests and contribute to their respective fields. Small class sizes ensure all students receive personalized attention, fostering meaningful connections between educators and learners. At the heart of our program is a faculty deeply committed to imparting knowledge and providing personalized mentoring that aligns with each student's unique goals and aspirations.

Students can choose from the following degree options:

Minors in Chemistry and Mathematics are also offered.
