Step-by-Step Application Guides


What if I want to live off-campus?

All single freshman and sophomore traditional undergraduate students under 21 years of age and required to live in on-campus housing unless they are living with their parent/legal guardian.

To apply for off-campus housing, please complete the off-campus petition. All students must complete this petition in order to be approved for off-campus housing.

What if I can't afford to live on campus, but I am required to?

For support, please contact the Office of Financial Aid at 714.966.5490 or email financialaid@vanguard.edu.

When do I get my room and room assignment information?

Students will be able to see their room assignment and roommate on August 1st on the myVU portal. You will need to use your student login information to access the portal. On August 1st, please visit myvu.vanguard.edu.

When do I move in?


Welcome Weekend for new students for the 2018-2019 academic year begins August 24, 2018. For more information regarding welcome weekend, please visit the New Student Orientation web page.


Returning students will be able to move into the Residence Halls during the following check-in times:

  • Saturday, August 25 from 9:00am - 2:00pm in the Tower's Lobby.
  • Sunday, August 26 from 2:00pm - 7:00pm in the Tower's Lobby.

If students cannot make these times, they can check into the Residence Life Office on Monday, August 27 between 8:00am - 5:00pm.

What do I bring?

Checkout our packing list for what to bring and what not to bring to the Residence Halls.

If students are interested in bringing a portable AC unit to campus, they must submit an application for approval. Applications are reviewed on a first come, first serve basis. There is a $50 fee that will be applied to students accounts if they are approved to have an AC unit.

What furniture is already in my room?

All of our Residence Halls, except for Vanguard Centre are equipped with XL twin beds, desks, dressers, and desk chairs. For more information regarding each building's features and amenities, please click here.

Where do I do my laundry?

All of our Residence Halls have multiple credit/debit card opertated washers and dryers.

Is there a curfew for on-campus housing?

We do not have a curfew for on-campus housing.

What other policies do I have to follow?

All students are required to abide by our Code of Conduct. If you are living in the Residence Halls, you will also need to familiarize yourself with our housing policies. Students can find these policies in our Student Handbook, which is located on our Student Life web page.

How do I receive mail on-campus?

On-campus students can apply for a mail box here. For more information on our mail services, please visit our Mail Center web page. (note: students must log into our website using their VU credentials in order to access this information).

How to apply for a parking permit?

To apply for a parking permit, please click here. If students do not want to pay for a parking permit, they can pay for a day parking pass on-campus at one of our parking kiosks.
