Vanguard University participates in cross-town Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC) agreements with local partner institutions, allowing students interested in becoming officers in the Army or Air Force to participate while remaining enrolled at Vanguard. Students are responsible for applying to and coordinating participation in ROTC programs, while Vanguard’s School Certifying Official is available to assist with required documentation.

Army Reserve Officer Training Corps Program

Titan Batallion

Vanguard is a cross-town partner with California State University, Fullerton through the Titan Battalion Army ROTC program. Participation is offered at no cost to students, with books, supplies, and equipment provided. Enrollment in the basic courses during the first two years does not require a military commitment. Students who advance and contract in later years formally commit to military service.

Army ROTC participants may be eligible for scholarships that can cover tuition and fees or provide up to $10,000 annually for room and board. Contracted students also receive book and living stipends during the academic year. Interested students are encouraged to review CSUF’s Military Science program and contact their ROTC leadership for details.

Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corps Program

Vanguard partners with two Air Force ROTC programs: Loyola Marymount University (Detachment 040) and California State University, San Bernardino (Detachment 002). These programs prepare students to become officers in the U.S. Air Force or Space Force.

Participation during the first two years does not constitute military enlistment, and courses, books, and materials are provided at no cost. Students who are selected to contract attend Field Training between their sophomore and junior years, at which point they formally join the military. Scholarships may be available, and students should consult program leadership at each partner campus to learn more about eligibility and opportunities.
