Active-Duty Benefits
Tuition Assistance (TA) is a Department of Defense education benefit available to eligible Active-Duty service members and select Reserve and National Guard personnel. At Vanguard University, eligible service members may receive up to $250 per semester unit — but approval must be secured through your military branch before enrolling in classes, as TA cannot be applied retroactively.
Each branch administers TA differently, but the process always begins with obtaining approval through your command. Your Education Service Officer (ESO) can guide you through the steps specific to your branch. Note that all TA programs require students to maintain satisfactory academic progress; failure to do so may result in loss of eligibility and repayment of funds.

- Apply for admission to Vanguard University.
- Submit your approved Tuition Assistance authorization to Vanguard's School Certifying Official before the start of the term.
- Maintain satisfactory academic progress to remain eligible for future Tuition Assistance funding.
Return of Tuition Assistance Funds
Vanguard University applies Tuition Assistance funds directly to student accounts, but students who withdraw before completing 60% of a course may have unearned funds returned to their military branch, potentially leaving a balance due.
