Church Relations

A Shared Mission.

We believe that Vanguard University and our local church have a shared mission, to further the gospel of Jesus Christ. As the church develops young people to be followers of Christ, Vanguard continues that great work. Much like the church, Vanguard has its mission to integrate faith with life in a dynamic community environment. To that end, the Church Relations department seeks to build bridges to connect with our churches in order to partner together to equip students to fulfill God’s call on their lives.

Church Scholarship Program

The Church Scholarship Program is dedicated to support Assemblies of God students who attend Vanguard.

Support A Student Here

Vanguard’s mission is to equip each student for a Spirit-empowered life of Christ-centered leadership and service. Vanguard’s mission supports the local church’s mandate to make disciples of all nations. Together, Vanguard University and the Southern California District of the Assemblies of God seek to fulfill the Great Commission as we prepare the next generation of leaders for Christ and his kingdom.

SoCal Network Connections

Vanguard is excited to connect with our SoCal leaders and pastors to lead chapel and share the work of the Spirit in SoCal churches. Each semester, SoCal leaders will be speaking in chapel which is facilitated by our Dean of Spiritual Formation, Jonathan Allbaugh. Chapel services are open to guests and you are welcome to attend.

Joint Master of Arts in Theology

Saddleback Church is partnering with Vanguard University to offer a Master of Arts in Theology (MAT) through the Saddleback Leadership Academy. The new venture is designed to equip the next generation of church leaders. Students enrolled in the Saddleback Leadership Academy for a one-year internship may enroll in Vanguard University’s Graduate Religion Program and earn 18 of 48 units toward the MAT degree on site at Saddleback. They complete 30 units of theology on campus at Vanguard.
