Yes. Please indicate on your Employer Form whether you will be hosting a student in person or virtually. 

Here are a few ideas for a virtual scenario:

• Allow a student join a zoom meeting that involves multiple team members and then discuss it with student afterwards
• Provide student with a verbal overview of what employer does and allow her/him to ask questions
• Do a “share screen” with student while working on a particular project
• Allow student to sit in on a phone call or presentation with a client

You may choose to host a student for either a full day (6-8 hours), a partial day (4 hours) or a multi-day (2 days). Simply indicate what you prefer on the Employer form. 

Yes! You may choose to host one or more students for the Job Shadow Program. If hosting more than one student, you may choose to host the students at various departments at your company. You can indicate how many students you prefer to host on the Employer form.  

The employer partner is responsible for creating a schedule for the job shadow day. The schedule could consist of a tour of the organization, observing certain work functions, attending engaging meetings, participating in events, a networking lunch with staff, conducting informational interviews, formal opportunities for students to ask questions, etc.

SAMPLE AGENDA

The Job Shadow Program takes place between February 19, 2023 - April 19, 2023. It is up to the employer to have established date(s) or schedule directly with the student upon being paired. 

If your opportunity is in-person, students are responsible for providing their own transportation to and from the employer.

Students interested in participating in the Job Shadow Program will be required to fill out an application through the Career Services office at Vanguard University. The team will select the student(s) who will participate in the shadow day at your organization, based on the student’s major, career interests, and spring break location preferences. Once your student has been selected, we will provide you with information about their background prior to the scheduled shadow date. 

Note: We cannot guarantee that every employer will be matched with a student. We will match as many students with employers as possible.

The submission time frame for interested employers begins on November 1, 2023 and ends January 15, 2024.
