37th Annual VU Alumni Award Nominations

Know someone who is deserving of an honor? The Vanguard University Alumni Association has established the following awards to recognize alumni and distinguished community members, to be presented at the 37th Annual VU Alumni Awards Dinner in the Spring of 2018. Submit a nomination on/before the deadline of Friday, December 29, 2017.

Alumnus of the Year Award

Alumnus of the Year Award is presented to an alumnus or alumna whose accomplishments and/or contributions enhance the University at the local, state, national, or international levels.

Nominees must meet the following criteria:

  • Graduated from the University
  • Attended two years
  • Completed a minimum of 48 units
  • A recognized leader in field
  • Supporter of Vanguard University
  • At least 15 years’ post-graduation from first Vanguard University degree

ALUMNUS OF THE YEAR

Young Alumnus of the Year Award

Young Alumnus of the Year Award is presented to an alumnus or alumna whose accomplishments and/or contributions enhance the University at the local, state, national, or international levels.

Nominees must meet the following criteria:

  • Graduated from the University
  • Attended two years
  • Completed a minimum of 48 units
  • Within 20 years post-graduation from first Vanguard University degree (under 45 years of age)
  • Supporter of the University
  • A record of professional and/or extra-professional activities to advance their field, and/or contributions of time, talent or financial support to benefit the School

YOUNG ALUMNUS OF THE YEAR

Distinguished Service Award

Distinguished Service Award is presented to an alumnus, alumna or alumni group that develops and implements and/or participates in a program, event, or special outreach effort that contributes to improving the lives of others, and recognizes unselfish and extensive service to the community and to humankind.

Nominees must meet the following criteria:

  • Graduated from the University
  • Attended Vanguard for at least 12 units
  • Contributed exceptional service to their communities
  • Service must have been performed on a volunteer basis or through professional involvement
  • May be made to any alumnus, supporter, former or present faculty member, staff member, or administrator

Career Services provides free resources for our alumni and students. If you are going through a transition, allow them to empower and equip you to discover your interests, values, and abilities to transition into meaningful life work. They exist to provide relevant resources, avenues for exploration and experienced career advising.

Career Mentorship

Make a tangible impact in the life of a current student. The Career Mentoring program is a one-semester commitment, that connects a mentor and student 1-1, in one of the students’ top 5 areas of career interest. These semester-long relationships involve five meetings that best fit the schedule of the mentor and student (office, coffee, Facetime, etc.).

Pray for Vanguard

Join Vanguard alumni around the world who lift up our community in prayer. Pray for President Beals and the rest of our administration for wisdom in leading our university. Pray for our faculty that they would be renewed and empowered to impact our students for a Christ-centered life of leadership. Pray for our students that they might experience Christ in powerful ways, finding insights and freedom. Pray for our staff that they might experience strength and Christ in the work of the university. Pray for favor with donors and supporters to grow the university.

Disciple A Student

Join our Story Shapers program. Mentor a student 1-1 by listening, sharing God’s insights on your life, and helping a student thrive at Vanguard. This semester-long relationship involves eight meetings, and training is provided.

You experienced the power of the Vanguard community. You also know students who would thrive here at Vanguard! Your insights and recommendations of students helps others experience the vibrant Vanguard community that equips Christ-centered leaders in every aspect of society.
