Change the Landscape of Healthcare with a Degree in Communication and a Concentration in Health Communication

The B.A. in Communication with a Concentration in Health Communication addresses how communication intersects with all aspects of health. By understanding how communication impacts health, we can improve the healthcare process—from systems and policies to individual health behavior and outcomes.  Students in the Health Communication concentration will gain proficiency in multiple means of communication through foundational communication courses and build competency in key focus areas for health communication careers, such as media, diversity, and public communication skills.

One of the fastest growing areas of study in the communication discipline, health communication is becoming increasingly important in the area of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion and health communication experts are in demand in not only hospital and government settings, but also in community-based healthcare, schools, and corporate settings. Health communication specialists work in hospital education departments, in health care administration, in public relations, marketing, and human resource departments, in patient satisfaction and patient advocacy programs, in media organizations covering health issues, and in nonprofit, research or public policy organizations.
