GEO Week is a week of events put on by the Global Education & Outreach (GEO) Office on campus to help you learn about and get involved study & service programs

GEO Week Schedule

Monday, October 2

10am-1pm: Kick Off with a Camel, Heath Lawn
- Free photos and rides with a real camel… yes, a real camel!
11am-1pm: GEO Week to Go
- Commuters, pick up a GEO Week to Go bag in the Commuter Lounge (Needham) on your way to class.
2-2:45pm: Leverage It!
- Engage with the Career Services staff to learn how to leverage the skillsets gained during study + service opportunities on your resume, in interviews, and for grad school. Location: Price Room
3-3:30pm: GEO 101
- Stop in to learn more about the GEO office, ways to engage, how to raise funds, and answers all of your questions. Location: GEO Office, Scott 2nd Floor
8:00pm: Excavate, Needham

Tuesday, October 3

9:30am: GEO Chapel, Seymour
- Hear from students that participated in last years’ study + service programs.
11:30am-1:30pm: Navigate, Student Center
- Interesting in study or service opportunities? Come out to chat with local and global organizations, missionaries, and nonprofit organizations to learn more about ways to get plugged in and sent out.
11:00am-1:00pm: GEO Week to Go
- Commuters, pick up a GEO Week to Go bag in the Commuter Lounge on your way to class. Grab your snack & head over to the Student Center for Navigate.
1:30-2:15pm: Capture It!
- Join us for a workshop on how to best capture travel, study & service experiences in a manner that is ethical and maintains dignity for the people and cultures involved. If you are a photographer or videographer, we'd love to have you join one of our teams. Location: Price Room
2-2:45pm: Teach It!
- Have you ever considered teaching abroad during the summer or after graduation? Come engage with one of our partners that mobilizes students from all academic disciplines to teach abroad in a variety of cultural contexts.
3:30-4:00pm: GEO 101
- Stop in to learn more about the GEO office, ways to engage, how to raise funds, and answers all of your questions. Location: GEO Office, Scott 2nd Floor
9pm: Home Abroad
- Hear from your peers about their international experiences - the good, the bad, the ugly. Come to learn more, leave with a sweet treat. Location: Towers Patio

Wednesday, October 4

10am: GEO Chapel, Seymour
- Hear from our partners at Cornerstone City Church in Derry, Northern Ireland and members of the 2023 VU Northern Ireland team.
11:30am-1:30pm: Discern It!
- Have questions about what it means to be called by the Lord? Join us for this interactive session to hear more about purpose + calling, engage in breakout discussions, and be prayed with and over as you discern what the Lord has for you in this season. Location: Price Room

3-3:30pm: GEO 101
- Stop in to learn more about the GEO office, ways to engage, how to raise funds, and answers all of your questions. Location: GEO Office, Scott 2nd Floor
9:30pm: Shine, Seymour
- Our normal Shine with interactive opportunities to write letters of encouragement to our current mission partners.

Thursday, October 5

9:30am: GEO Chapel, Seymour
- Worship and message from Stacey Sandeford-Lyons, Dean of Student Success and Academic Services.
11:30am-1:30pm: World Market, Student Center
- Explore the 2024 study + service trips that VU is sending out, talk to staff and student reps about opportunities, and enjoy a free taste of foods from around the globe.
1-1:45pm: Pharm It!
- Hear from Dr. Itzel Calleja-Macias and students from the Ecuador 2023 team about their experience on a medical mission, earning clinical hours in a different cultural context, and ways for you to engage in 2024 and beyond. Location: Price Room
3:30-4:00pm: GEO 101
- Stop in to learn more about the GEO office, ways to engage, how to raise funds, and answers all of your questions. Location: GEO Office, Scott 2nd Floor
5:30-7:00pm: Unpack It!
- Interested in studying abroad for a summer or full semester? Join us as VU students who studied abroad unpack their bags and share about their experiences domestically and internationally. Location: Price Room

Photo Expo:
This year, the photo exhibit will be up all week in the Heath Rotunda. We encourage you to stop by to engage with the submitted works and vote for your favorites.

Prayer:
We believe that prayer is one of the best ways we can support and engage with kingdom work. Stop by any of our events to engage in the portable exhibit dedicated to prayer for the nations.
