The Department of Music currently offers a general minor in Music and a minor in Commercial Music launching Fall of 2026.

Minor in Music

The minor in Music is comprised of 24-25 units of Music courses. This minor prepares students to become proficient in general music knowledge such as music history, theory, piano performance, as well as builds their experience in their instrument of choice.

The minor in Commercial Music is comprised of 23-24 units of courses in performance, songwriting, and music technology. Whether you’re interested in writing and performing your own music, learning the tools of modern production, or simply expanding your musicianship, this minor provides hands-on training that complements your primary field of study with practical skills that apply directly to today’s music industry.
