Begin Your Career in Health Professions with a Degree in Biology and a Concentration in Biomedical Science
The BS in Biology with a concentration in Biomedical Science is designed to help you qualify for admission to medical and other health professional schools. The degree will prepare you for success in professional health care programs (e.g., medicine, dentistry, veterinary medicine, pharmacy), allied health programs (e.g., physician assistant, nursing, physical therapy, occupational therapy), biomedical science graduate programs, and careers in biomedical research and academic or commercial laboratories.
You will receive a specific sequence of courses that will give you a strong preparation for careers in medicine and other health related professions. You will engage in experiential learning with curriculum that meets the requirements for entrance into professional and graduate programs in the medical field.
You will have the ability to gain hands-on experience in our laboratory courses and faculty-student research projects. A strong background in undergraduate research will help you stand out as a future advanced degree program applicant.
Opportunities to advance your knowledge and build your career path also exist outside of the classroom. The Pre-Health Club allows students to explore different areas within the field, network with professionals, and serve the community.
