VU Softball going to the NAIA World Series

Vanguard University's 2019 softball team are going to the NAIA World Series starting on May 23rd. Facilitated in Springfield, Missouri, the high stakes tournament is set up as a ten team double elimination bracket. This meaning, out of a 19 game tournament, our girls cannot lose twice throughout the whole event.

This year's team is unique and have a lot of history together as student-athletes. Six seniors will be taking the mound as they draw on their experience after twenty-four seasons together in the past four years. They are a very balanced team with a fantastic pitching staff and a strong batter's box. After years of playing together, Vanguard softball has cultivated great institutional knowledge and function more as a family than a team. Conference coach of the year, Beth Renkoski, has high hopes as she prepares her players for the most competitive event of the season. We are currently one of the only teams from California to qualify for this event.

Coach Renksoki reflects back on their season, "God has blessed us with a really special season. It's the result of the hard work of every single person in our program working together to make this happen." She continues to say, "I am grateful to God for allowing us to see the hard work resulting in meeting the goals we set as a team. We're excited to see how far teamwork can take us in the world series." Vanguard prays for a safe trip and successful tournament for our softball girls.
