This is Rebecca Spady.

Rebecca Spady is an Assistant Professor of Education in the Graduate Educate program. She grew up in Montgomery County, Pennsylvania and Orange County, California. When she was not in school, she stayed active in ballet, jazz dance, swimming, and horseback riding. Today, Rebecca and her husband Carl enjoy vacationing in Bass Lake with their kids and fixing up their 57-year-old house. The Spady Family has a heart for children and volunteer with For the Children, formerly Royal Family Kids Camp, as counselors and staff.

“What I enjoy most about working in education is the people, both the students and colleagues. It is wonderful to work alongside such gifted colleagues in the Department of Graduate Education and guide students towards achieving their goal of an MA in Education. We work to develop teacher leaders and teacher researchers. It is incredibly rewarding to see my graduate students receiving their master’s degree,” says Rebecca.

After graduating from Cal State University, Fullerton with a BA in Business Administration, Rebecca worked for a marketing ad agency managing a variety of clients in the food and entertainment industry. She felt called to education as her family grew with children and went back to school for her multiple-subject teaching credential as well as an MA in Education from Vanguard University. She was an elementary teacher as well as an adjunct professor at Vanguard. Her early work at Vanguard involved collaborating on the development of the Online MA in Education Program. Her enjoyment of higher education led her to purse an EdD in Educational Leadership. Her doctoral dissertation was focused on formative assessment in online graduate education.

“Vanguard offers a graduate program that is well respected in the community. Teachers from Vanguard are sought after. We have heard time and again how our students stand out as exemplary teachers. We work to provide the best graduate program in education while mentoring our students. We have faculty who are truly dedicated to providing an exemplary program and to thoroughly equip our students with the tools necessary to become effective teachers and teacher leaders,” says Rebecca.

Rebecca strongly believes in the quality of an education at Vanguard as two of her three children received their undergraduate degrees from Vanguard. Her hope for the future of Vanguard’s graduate program is that it would continue to grow and remain a well-respected program with educational offerings that are at the forefront in the field of education.

Vanguard is thankful for Rebecca’s experience in education and her commitment in equipping the next generation of teachers in the classroom.
