This is Keisha Lee, assistant professor of mathematics and adjunct professor of liberal studies. She has worked in STEM education for over 30 years. Originally from New York, Keisha moved to California where she completed her undergraduate degree from Cal State University San Bernardino and her PhD from Pepperdine University.
"I have always loved Math," Keisha remembers. "Ever since I was young, I would go to the grocery store and was like a human calculator for my mom."
Keisha creates an inviting classroom, helping students succeed in understanding math while recognizing the subject can be challenging. She believes in taking equations and problems step by step to achieve larger milestones. As a professor, she hopes to inspire students’ passions, help them define their purposes and reach their destinies. Her favorite Bible verse is Philippians 4:13, "You can do all things through Christ Jesus who gives you strength."
“I'm a mentor to Vanguard students and to others in the community,” Keisha says. “I like to see people do well and thrive–I have a little phrase that I say, 'Living the life I love and loving the life I live.'"
When she is not working, Keisha enjoys spending time doing yoga, archery and practicing golf in her backyard. "Archery keeps my mind focused and it's great to go outdoors to get some fresh air,” she shares, “I was not really into yoga at first but really started to love it because it keeps me relaxed."
Keisha recently married her lifelong friend, Lawrence, in Oahu, Hawaii. They enjoy spending time with their grandchildren and two dogs, Milly and Blue, and vacationing in South Carolina.
Vanguard is thankful for Keisha's knowledge in math and her consistent support in helping our students succeed.
