Vanguard University is a Christian higher education institution seeking to pursue knowledge, cultivate character, deepen faith, and equip each student for a Spirit-empowered life of Christ-centered leadership and service. In alignment with this mission, Vanguard educates leaders who can participate in civil discourse and seek to understand differing viewpoints in a respectful way.

Vanguard’s Student Clubs and Organizations policy allows students the opportunity to form academic, service, and social clubs to develop leadership skills and cultivate their character within the context of Christian community, ultimately making a positive impact across our campus and in their careers and lives beyond their university experience.

Although Turning Point USA (TPUSA) applied for a chapter on Vanguard’s campus, they have not been granted approval because our university policy does not permit campus clubs affiliated with political advocacy initiatives. Instead, we encourage students to engage in diverse forums, speakers, discussions, and events on campus where they can explore ideas and deepen their own understanding of them and engage in civil, respectful dialogue with others who hold similar and different convictions.

We pride ourselves on listening to our students and helping them to pursue their passions and goals in a way that aligns with our mission in the context of a Christian community. We have invited the students who sought a TPUSA chapter and others to participate in planning events throughout the 2024 Year of Civility and in the ongoing campus-wide Courageous Conversations series, which exists to foster dialogue on contemporary topics. We are pleased that they are actively involved in planning these events.

Vanguard University is committed to providing opportunities for student engagement that enrich our community and prepare students to lead with respect, humility, dignity and civility. As always, the University aims to provide a quality educational experience marked by the pursuit of truth, the cultivation of virtue, and the desire for service.
