Celebration of Service

Our 2025-2026 Theme

At Vanguard University, Christian service thrives at the intersection of calling, ability, availability, and vulnerability. Guided by love and empowered by the Holy Spirit, we respond to God’s call with courage and authenticity.

This year’s theme, Here Am I (Isaiah 6:8), reflects our desire to serve Christ and others with open hearts and obedient lives. Service is embedded in our mission, core values, curriculum, and strategic vision. As a Christ-centered, Spirit-empowered community, we seek to embody excellence in service across all areas—academic, spiritual, and social—trusting God to use us wherever we are called.

Each month, the university will highlight where Vanguard is serving throughout our campus and in the broader community:

  • August: Women
  • September-October: Hispanic Heritage
  • October: Mental Health Awareness
  • November: First-Generation Students/Veterans/Native American Heritage
  • December: Poverty Awareness/ Grocery Rescue/Collegiate Food Insecurity Awareness Day/Protect the Pride
  • January: Education
  • February: Black History
  • March: Neurodiversity Awareness
  • March 6: Employee Appreciation
  • April: Asian Pacific Islander Heritage
  • April 6: Student Athlete Day
  • May: Helping Professions—nursing, pastors, social workers, psychology, campus safety

Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?” And I said, “Here am I. Send me!”

Isaiah 6:8

November: Veteran Services

On Veterans Day, Vanguard University honors the courage and sacrifice of those who have served in the U.S. Armed Forces. In a message from Dr. Renea Brathwaite, the community reflects on faith, gratitude, and the stories of Vanguard veterans. Read the full letter to learn how we continue to honor and support them.
