Vanguard University freshman and History and Political Science major Aaron Sosa has been awarded Chick-fil-A’s Remarkable Futures Scholarship, one of just 13 students nationwide to receive the $25,000 award.
A team member at Chick-fil-A Ontario Mills Parkway for the past two years, Sosa’s journey reflects steady growth shaped by mentorship, hard work, and community. “I see my Chick-fil-A team as a family,” he shared. Through their example, he has grown in confidence as a leader and learned to navigate difficult conversations with professionalism and empathy. “They’ve consistently encouraged and cared for me.”
That same culture of care extends throughout the organization. Sosa was presented the award by Chick-fil-A CEO Andrew Cathy, a moment that quickly became one of the most meaningful in his journey. “I was struck by Cathy’s humility, presence, and the way he valued others,” Sosa said. “Seeing how he leads made the moment even more meaningful.”
As part of the scholarship, Sosa will travel to Atlanta, participate in mentorship opportunities, and connect with fellow recipients from across the country. He looks forward to building relationships with peers who share a commitment to leadership and service. “I hope to gain a deeper understanding of Chick-fil-A’s mission and culture,” he said.
The scholarship also provides meaningful support in Sosa’s academic journey at Vanguard. As a commuter from Rancho Cucamonga who often relies on the train and rideshare services, he balances the daily demands of work, school, and transportation. This support helps ease that burden while allowing him to remain focused on his education and growth.
Looking ahead, Sosa is exploring future paths in law, corporate leadership within Chick-fil-A, and potentially becoming an owner-operator. “Whatever direction I choose, I hope to lead with purpose and reflect Christ,” Sosa said.
