Adam is originally from Huntington Beach, CA but currently resides down the street from Vanguard in Costa Mesa. He graduated from California State University, Long Beach in 2008 with a B.A. in Communication Studies. Since then, he worked in the customer service industry and most recently at a tech based company in Irvine. Adam has always enjoyed working with youth and has spent time volunteering at his church’s high school ministry, coaching volleyball and working as a house dad for ex-street boys in Quito, Ecuador. He is passionate about empowering student’s in their personal relationship with God and creating a Christ-centered community with those around him. When not at work, you can find Adam planning his next travel adventure with his wife, at an Angel’s game, cooking or catching up on his TV shows.
Adam works with freshmen recruited athletes and freshmen from Arizona and Hawaii.
David is originally from Torrance, CA. He graduated from Biola University in 2008 with a B.S. in Business Management and a minor in Biblical Studies and is currently pursuing a M.S. in Organizational Psychology at Vanguard with specialization in Training and Development and Intercultural Relations. Throughout his career, he has worked in the financial and professional development industries, serving in supervisorial and sales consultant roles. David’s life passion is Ephesians 4:12-16, coming alongside others in their stages of growth in Christ, and equipping them to flourish according to their passions, skills and opportunities. He and his wife have served as assistant pastors and ministered in over a dozen countries for church plants, orphanages, and rehab centers. In addition to their heart for mentoring youth and young adults, they are passionate for adoption, including their own daughter, whom they adopted as an embryo. David enjoys songwriting, MMA, sushi, family time, and his Pomeranian dog, Bella (who thinks she’s a cat).
David works with freshman performing arts majors and freshmen from San Diego.
Madison is originally from Hanford, CA. She graduated from Vanguard University in 2014 with a B.A. in Liberal Studies with a Communication minor. Madison played one year on the Lion Women’s Basketball team, but decided to retire and pursue other activities while at Vanguard. During her time as a student, she was involved as a Frontline leader, VU Rec intern, Resident Assistant (RA) and Senior Board of Director in the Office of Orientation and Transitions. Madison is excited to be back at Vanguard, a place near and dear to her heart. Madison loves all things related to sports, food, movies, and the San Francisco Giants. You can catch her hanging out with her identical twin sister and friends or going running in her spare time.
Madison works with freshmen from the Central Valley (Fresno, Kern, Kings, Madera, Mariposa, Merced, Tulare and Tuolumne counties), the High Sierra Desert (Inyo and Mono counties) and Colorado and Nevada.
Kim is originally from Lake Forest, CA. She graduated from Biola University in 2009 with a B.A. in Liberal Studies with an emphasis in Intercultural Studies. After college she worked for Olive Crest and the Orange County Rescue Mission. Most recently she was an American Airlines flight attendant. Kim is passionate about Christian higher education and she paved the way for her younger sister to attend Vanguard. She has always enjoyed working with youth from spending her college summers on Bass Lake working at a Christian summer camp to serving in youth ministry in a church setting. Kim loves seeing students enter into their own personal relationship with God. When not at work, you can find Kim eating all the delicious food her husband makes since he is a professional chef, coaching and training at risk youth to run half marathons or with her husband watching sports.
Kim works with freshmen from the Central Coast (Monterey, San Benito, San Luis Obispo, Santa Barbara and Ventura counties ) and all states excluding Arizona, Colorado, Hawaii, Nevada, Oregon and Washington, and transfers including recruited student athletes.
Juliana is originally from Colombia, but she grew up in Ontario, CA. She graduated from Scripps College in 2016 with a dual B.A. in Politics and International Relations and Foreign Languages. As a student, she primarily worked at the Scripps College Academy and was an intern for the First-Generation @ Scripps Program. In these roles she developed a passion for social justice and higher education. She was also an active member of the Christian community and served as a leader for the Latin@ Fellowship and the Scripps Communities of Resources and Empowerment Bible discussion group. Juliana is excited to engage with students and guide them into a transformational space where they will grow in their faith and be supported as they develop academically. In her free time, she loves spending time with friends and family, exploring new restaurants, watching movies, journaling, and reading.

Karis is originally from San Francisco, CA. She graduated from Westmont College in 2016 with a B.A. in English and a minor in Communication Studies. As a student, she worked in Undergraduate Admissions, Campus Life in Orientation, and Career Development and Calling. During that time, she developed a passion for higher education, specifically in counseling students and listening to God’s movement in their lives. In her free time, Karis enjoys spending time with her family and friends, reading a good book, baking cookies, and watching the San Francisco Giants.
Karis works with freshmen from Imperial and Orange counties and Northern California (from Alpine, Calaveras, Santa Clara, Santa Cruz, and Stanislaus counties and north).
Jessica is originally from Eugene, OR. She graduated with a B.A. in Psychology from Biola University, where she enjoyed working on campus and playing intramural soccer. After college, she moved with her husband to New Jersey, where she earned her Master’s in Counseling Services with a School Counseling concentration from Rider University. During her time in graduate school, she had the opportunity to lead support groups for grieving teens and children. After completing their graduate degrees, Jessica and her husband relocated back to Southern California to once again enjoy the warm sun. Jessica is excited to support students’ educational and spiritual growth throughout the application process. She’s also happy to express her passion for youth by being involved in her husband’s youth pastor ministry in the Long Beach and Norwalk communities. In her spare time, she enjoys discovering new restaurants, working out at the gym, and reading good mystery novels.

Kyla is originally from Boston, MA. She graduated from Biola University in 2014 with a B.A. in Intercultural Studies and a minor in Biblical Studies. As a student, she was involved with Student Orientation Services. She worked as a student worker with Chapel Accountability, Campus Safety and Undergraduate Admissions. Her passion for Christian higher education began when she hosted prospective students in her dorm and she later became the Housing Coordinator for overnight prospective student campus visits. Her experience at a Christian university helped foster incredible community and personal growth in addition to an amazing education. Kyla is excited to help coordinate campus visits for others to have the opportunity to experience Christian higher education at Vanguard! Kyla enjoys spending time with friends, gardening succulents, and keeping her fluffy feline friend out of trouble.
