Director of Undergraduate Admissions
Susan is originally from Cerritos, CA. She graduated from Biola University in 2006 with a B.A. in Psychology and a minor in Biblical Studies and is currently pursuing a M.A. in Leadership Studies at Vanguard. Upon graduation, she worked at various non-profit organizations serving youth. She began working at Vanguard in December 2007 as an Undergraduate Admissions Counselor and has served in various capacities within Enrollment Management as well as serving a year in Student Life. Susan has a strong passion for helping studies and families navigate the college admissions process and greatly enjoys seeing students thrive as leaders in the Vanguard community. In her free time, Susan enjoys traveling, listening to NPR, and spending time with her nephews, niece and Labrador, Abby.
Susan works with freshmen from Hawaii and freshmen from Riverside County and all counties in the Central Coast (Monterey, San Benito, San Luis Obispo, Santa Barbara, Ventura), Central Valley (Fresno, Madera, Mariposa, Merced, Kern, Kings, Tulare, Tuolumne), and High Sierra Desert (Inyo and Mono) areas. She also works with the central states of Arkansas, Iowa, Kansas, Louisiana, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, Oklahoma, and Texas.
Jason is originally from Ontario, CA and graduated from Vanguard University with a B.A. in History & Political Science and is currently pursuing his M.A. in Management at University of Redlands. As a student at Vanguard, he served as a Frontline Orientation Leader, Huntington Hall Resident Assistant (RA), worked as a Tele-counselor and Intern in the Office of Undergraduate Admissions. He is married to his best friend Lauren and they both enjoy hanging out with family and friends, traveling to the most tropical places, eating sushi, mentoring high school students and teaching hip-hop.

Krista is originally from Yakima, WA. She graduated from Northwest University in Kirkland, WA in May 2012 with a B.A. in Pastoral Ministries and Biblical Studies. Krista is a licensed minister in the Assemblies of God. While a student, she served in Residence Life as a Resident Assistant and Apartment Representative, as well as a mentor to high school girls in her church. Her experience in student leadership developed a strong passion for student pursuits and success in higher education. Krista is excited to be a part of launching students into an extraordinary college experience at Vanguard! A northwest native, she is a connoisseur of coffee and enjoys running, being outdoors, cooking, and spending time with friends and family.
Krista works with freshmen from San Bernardino County and all counties in Northern California from Alpine, Calaveras, Santa Clara, Santa Cruz, and Stanislaus north including the San Francisco Bay and Sacramento areas. She also works with the northwest states of Oregon and Washington and all states east of the Mississippi River including Alabama, Connecticut, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Mississippi, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Tennessee, Vermont, Virginia, West Virginia, Wisconsin, and the District of Columbia.
Vannessa is originally from Rancho Cucamonga, CA. She graduated from Colorado Christian University in Lakewood, CO in May 2014 with a B.A. in Communication Studies with a Psychology minor. While a student, she served in Admissions as a Student Ambassador, as well as Editor-in-Chief of the university Newspaper. Her experience has given her a heart for students who desire to pursue higher education and go deeper in their walk with Christ. Vannessa is excited to see students embrace their full potential and take this next step in their journey! She enjoys hanging out at coffee shops, reading, going to the movies, spontaneous dance parties, and spoken word poetry.
Vannessa works with freshmen from Imperial, Los Angeles and San Diego counties in California, and the state of Colorado.
Ariel is originally from Portland, OR. She graduated from Seattle Pacific University in 2012 with a B.A. in Communication. As a student, she was involved in student leadership in the residence halls, captain of SPU’s dance team, a student worker in the admissions office, and a Young Life leader for West Seattle School District. Upon graduating, she spent time living abroad in Australia to explore a new culture and connect with new people. After returning to the United States, she worked as an admissions counselor for Multnomah University in Portland, OR and loves helping students develop a greater understanding of their purpose and potential. Ariel is excited to continue her work in admissions at Vanguard!
Ariel works with freshmen from Orange County in California and the western/WICHE states of Alaska, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, North Dakota, New Mexico, South Dakota, Utah, and Wyoming.
Mike is originally from Huntington Beach, CA. He graduated from Biola University in 2010 with a B.A in Communication Studies with a Biblical Studies minor. While at Biola, he was a member of the soccer team and helped coach local teams throughout the year. Upon graduation he worked in the hospitality industry at a local resort, but soon realized that he was passionate about helping students achieve success, cultivate their own passions, and create a deeper relationship with Christ. Mike is excited to see students succeed and thrive in the wonderful community here at Vanguard! In his free time Mike enjoys playing soccer, being outdoors, watching sports, and going to the beach.
Mike works with all transfers including recruited student athletes.
Ashley is originally from the small town of El Centro, CA. She ventured out from the Imperial Valley to attend Vanguard University in 2009 and graduated in 2012 with her B.A. in Psychology. While at Vanguard she was a Frontline leader turned Student Director and served as a Resident Assistant for Vanguard Center. She was involved in Psy Chi, Psychology’s International Honor Society, was invited as a 2012 inductee into Delta Kappa, Vanguard’s Honor Society, and fell in love with the city of Florence while studying abroad in Italy. For two years she enjoyed working in the Admissions Office and upon graduation, was hired full time to continue her work of warmly welcoming students to the University. Her involvement in the college ministry at Mariners Church continues to grow her love for college students and develops her desire for others to experience the matchless qualities of a Christian higher education. Ashley stays active at the dance studio, enjoys conversations over coffee, and is not afraid to admit her love for country music.

Assistant Director Operations
Kristi is originally from Newark, CA. She heard the siren’s call and transplanted to beautiful Southern California to attend VU in 2004. She graduated in 2008 with a B.A. in Theatre Arts with a concentration in Performance/Directing. While at VU, Kristi was a resident assistant for Catalina Hall and a student worker in various departments on campus in addition to being involved in theatre productions on campus. When Kristi is not working she enjoys acting in local theatres, sewing, reading, hanging out with her husband, playing with their furry family members, and drawing dinosaurs.
