Adam is originally from Huntington Beach, CA but currently resides down the street from Vanguard in Costa Mesa. He graduated from California State University, Long Beach in 2008 with a B.A. in Communication Studies. Since then, he worked in the customer service industry and most recently at a tech based company in Irvine. Adam has always enjoyed working with youth and has spent time volunteering at his church’s high school ministry, coaching volleyball and working as a house dad for ex-street boys in Quito, Ecuador. He is passionate about empowering student’s in their personal relationship with God and creating a Christ-centered community with those around him. When not at work, you can find Adam planning his next travel adventure with his wife, at an Angel’s game, cooking or catching up on his TV shows.
Adam works with all transfers including recruited student athletes and re-admit students.
Hervey Malone II
Hervey is originally from Pittsburg, CA. He graduated from Cal Poly Pomona University in 2006 with a B.S. in Business Management and from Cal State University, Long Beach in 2010 with a M.S. in Counseling: Student Development in Higher Education. He is pursuing his doctoral degree at USC in Educational Leadership and is in the dissertation writing phase. Hervey currently serves in the youth department at his church encouraging the youth in school and college aspirations. In his spare time, he enjoys traveling with family, touring college campuses, working on classic cars, as well as going to USC football games. In addition, he loves watching the HGTV channel for all home and yard makeover tips.
Hervey works with freshmen from Arizona and freshmen recruited athletes.
David is originally from Torrance, CA. He graduated from Biola University in 2008 with a B.S. in Business Management and a minor in Biblical Studies and is currently pursuing a M.S. in Organizational Psychology at Vanguard with specialization in Training and Development and Intercultural Relations. Throughout his career, he has worked in the financial and professional development industries, serving in supervisorial and sales consultant roles. David’s life passion is Ephesians 4:12-16, coming alongside others in their stages of growth in Christ, and equipping them to flourish according to their passions, skills and opportunities. He and his wife have served as assistant pastors and ministered in over a dozen countries for church plants, orphanages, and rehab centers. In addition to their heart for mentoring youth and young adults, they are passionate for adoption, including their own daughter, whom they adopted as an embryo. David enjoys songwriting, MMA, sushi, family time, and his Pomeranian dog, Bella (who thinks she’s a cat).
Madison is originally from Hanford, CA. She graduated from Vanguard University in 2014 with a B.A. in Liberal Studies with a Communication minor. Madison played one year on the Lion Women’s Basketball team, but decided to retire and pursue other activities while at Vanguard. During her time as a student, she was involved as a Frontline leader, VU Rec intern, Resident Assistant (RA) and Senior Board of Director in the Office of Orientation and Transitions. Madison is excited to be back at Vanguard, a place near and dear to her heart. Madison loves all things related to sports, food, movies, and the San Francisco Giants. You can catch her hanging out with her identical twin sister and friends or going running in her spare time.
Madison works with freshmen from Los Angeles, all counties in the Central Coast (Monterey, San Benito, San Luis Obispo, Santa Barbara, Ventura), Central Valley (Fresno, Madera, Mariposa, Merced, Kern, Kings, Tulare, Tuolumne), and High Sierra Desert (Inyo and Mono) areas.
Kristin is originally from Fort Wayne, Indiana. She graduated from Palm Beach Atlantic University in 2009 with a B.S. in Communication and a minor in Psychology. Upon graduating, Kristin pursued international missions primarily in Southeast Asia which eventually landed her a full time career at a non-profit organization in Tustin, California. After four years investing in the community of Orange County, Kristin is passionate about serving and guiding others toward the path of their dreams. In her free time, Kristin enjoys reading, creative writing, surfing, sailing and exploring all the adventurous corners of California and beyond with her close knit community of friends.
Kristin works with freshmen from Imperial and San Diego counties, all counties in Northern California from Alpine, Calaveras, Santa Clara, Santa Cruz, and Stanislaus and north and the states of Colorado, Oregon and Washington.
Jonathan works with freshmen from Riverside and San Bernardino counties.
Sheridan is originally from Elk Grove, CA near Sacramento. He graduated from Vanguard University in 2016 with a B.A. in Communication Studies with an emphasis in Interpersonal Communication. As a student, he was involved in Residence Life as a Huntington Hall Resident Assistant (RA) for two years, Student Body President, and an active community member volunteering at many local churches. He believes in the countless benefits of a Christian higher education, believing that Vanguard created the opportunity for him to personally grow tremendously and receive a life-changing experience. Sheridan likes writing poetry, loves music, and is a movie fanatic.
Melany del Carpio
Melany is originally from Brentwood, California in the Bay Area. She graduated from Biola University in 2014 with a B.A. in Intercultural Studies and a minor in Biblical Studies. As a student she was involved with residence life as a Resident Advisor and co-led a missions trip through the Student Missionary Union to Sri Lanka. Upon graduating, Melany worked with at-risk youth in Santa Ana with Mariners Church. During that time, she developed a passion for helping students bridge the gap between high school and higher education and loves seeing students discover their unique God-given abilities as they use them to impact the Kingdom. In her free time, Melany enjoys trying new foods, exploring new places, learning about new cultures, and is newly learning how to play the cajon.
Melany works with freshmen from all states except Arizona, California, Colorado, Hawaii, Nevada, Oregon and Washington.
Kyla is originally from Boston, MA. She graduated from Biola University in 2014 with a B.A. in Intercultural Studies and a minor in Biblical Studies. As a student, she was involved with Student Orientation Services. She worked as a student worker with Chapel Accountability, Campus Safety and Undergraduate Admissions. Her passion for Christian higher education began when she hosted prospective students in her dorm and she later became the Housing Coordinator for overnight prospective student campus visits. Her experience at a Christian university helped foster incredible community and personal growth in addition to an amazing education. Kyla is excited to help coordinate campus visits for others to have the opportunity to experience Christian higher education at Vanguard! Kyla enjoys spending time with friends, gardening succulents, and keeping her fluffy feline friend out of trouble.
