A Holiday Drama that beautifully illustrates the warmth and endurance of family love
Vanguard University’s highly acclaimed and award-winning department of theatre arts presents Little Women, which is presented in the Lyceum Theater on the Vanguard University campus, November 30 through December 9, 2012.
Louisa May Alcott’s Little Women is a wintertime favorite. It is both chilling and refreshing as it demonstrates that winter is always followed by spring and that winter’s shorter days, longer nights and cool crisp air always go hand in hand with the warmth generated by family togetherness. Alcott’s four beloved and indomitable sisters endure their hardships and reveal what is truly important in life. They prove that dreams always do come true even if they change a little along the way.
The show’s director, Kevin Slay, hopes that the production of Little Women will help the audience usher in the holiday spirit, “Christmas is the season when family arrives, when the house is full of the sounds of children playing, when fireplaces and kitchens fill the neighborhoods with welcome holiday aromas, and when people’s hearts well up with the cheer and anticipation of Christ’s birth. With Little Women, my desire is to tell this classic story with an invitation to enter into the tender relationship between these wonderful girls and walk with them as trials and triumphs shape their lives.”
Performance dates and times are November 30, December 1, 2, 6, 7 and 8 at 8:00 pm; and December 1, 2, 8 and 9 at 2:00 pm.
