Eugene O’Neill’s Ah, Wilderness!

A tender comedy that explores coming-of-age and young love in idyllic 1906 America

Costa Mesa, CA, February 17, 2015 – Vanguard University’s highly acclaimed and award-winning department of theatre arts presents Eugene O’Neill’s Ah, Wilderness! The production is presented in the Lyceum Theater on the Vanguard University campus, beginning February 27, 2015 and running two weekendsthrough March 8, 2015.

Eugene O’Neill’s magnificent storytelling takes center stage in Ah, Wilderness! as he invites us to join the Miller family on the Fourth of July weekend in an idyllic 1906 Connecticut town. The story unfolds into a tender retrospective portrait of small town family values, teenage growing pains, and young love.

The show’s director, Kevin Slay, adds, “Ah, Wilderness! is a play that takes us into the idealized childhood memory of one of our brilliant American playwrights, Eugene O’Neill. O’Neill explores the simplicity of his ‘Norman Rockwell’ Americana childhood and gives us a glimpse into the bygone world of American life at the turn of the last century – when life was a bit slower, filled with literature, family, laughter, and the hope for a strong and enduring future in the 20th century. We are excited to share O’Neill’s boyhood story in expressive, poetic and emotional ways for the eyes and ears of our theatre audience.”

This production is suitable for ages 6 and older. All performances are presented on the campus of Vanguard University, in the Lyceum Theater. Ticket prices are $14 for general admission and $12 for seniors, children, college students and groups.
