October Mexico Outreach to Ensenada

Last Updated Jul 2009

On October 25 - 26, students and staff from Vanguard University will serve our neighboring country during a missions trip to Ensenada, Mexico. This trip is one of several monthly missions trips to Mexico that are scheduled. Participants will have the opportunity to work in a women’s shelter taking care of the practical and spiritual needs of women and their children. Another service opportunity is at a church site where volunteers will minister to children. During the missions trip, Vanguard will be hosting a Bible study, arts and craft activities, and skits for the people of Ensenada.

The purpose of this outreach is to build community and deepen relationships with the people of Mexico. The missions team hopes to reassure the people of Ensenada that Vanguard is committed to them and loves them. Through the Mexico outreaches, the people of Mexico will know that Vanguard is more than a school that does once a year missions; rather, Vanguard considers the people of Mexico their friends.

"After spending a week in Mexico during spring break, I realized that I wanted to continue the relationships that I built by making it more than just a once-a-year commitment. I love the culture and the beauty that people portray as they live out their daily lives. It is a great way for students to get involved!" says Mexico outreach intern and event coordinator, Vilma Fuentes.

It is anticipated that about 15 students will participate. Students are encouraged to seize the opportunity to serve. Applications are available in the outreach office. The application deadline is October 20th and the payment deadline is October 22nd.  For more information please visit www.vanguard.edu/outreachministries.
