2016 FAMILY WEEKEND SCHEDULE

Friday, September 30

9:00 AM – 1:00 PM
Check In (in front of Scott Academic Center)
8:00 AM – 1:00 PM
Class Attendance – Family members may join their students for their regularly scheduled classes. Students are encouraged to receive approval from the Professor for in-class visitors, prior to the day of the event.
12:00 PM – 7:00 PM
Family Free Time Excursions – A full schedule of activities will be provided at check-in. Activities include Women’s Chorus & Orchestra Rehearsal, Concert Choir Rehearsal, Jazz Ensemble Rehearsal, Lunch ($5 per person), Shopping & more.
2:00 PM – 4:00 PM
Lewis Wilson Institute (Heath 109) – Mark Hausfeld, President of AGTS will be sharing on Pentecostalism and Islam/Muslims.
4:00 PM – 5:00 PM
Unpacked Party (Needham Chapel) – Come hear from students, staff & faculty who have participated in domestic & international mission trips, study abroad programs & academic intensives.
4:30 PM – 7:00 PM
Dinner (Cafe) – Adults and children are $5 each (cash only); Children three and under are free.
8:00 PM
 Family Worship & Communion Event / Shine (NMC) – Our beloved student led worship tradition
7:30 PM Blame It On the Movies: A Musical Review (Lyceum Theater) - $19 for General Admission, $15 for Seniors (60+), $13 for Children (6-12) & VU Students; Tickets must be purchased through vanguardtickets.com
9:00 PM- 11:00 PM  Salsa Night (Scott Courtyard) – Attend an unforgettable night of music, choreographed dancing, food, and fun in celebration of Salsa music and Hispanic Heritage Month. Join our Salsa Dance-Off at 10:00 pm. Winners will receive an exclusive gift!

Saturday, October 1

8:00 AM – 12:00 PM Volunteer Opportunity- Sign up to serve at the Vanguard 5k Alumni@vanguard.edu
8:30 AM  Vanguard 5K Registration (Sign up at Vanguard.edu/5k) / New Arrival Check In- (Needham Chapel)
9:30 AM  Vanguard 5K Celebration Party- (Campus Mall)
10:30 AM – 1:00 PM Brunch on Your Own (Cafe) – Enjoy brunch on your own in the Cafe. Adults=$5, Children (5-10)=$5 (cash only)
12:00 PM  Coffee and Culture (Great Commission Hall) – Join our students in discussing Islam/ Muslims with Mark Hausfeld, President of AGTS.
1:30 PM - 7:00 PM Family Free Time Excursions - A full schedule of activities will be provided at check-in.

Shopping Activities (Orange County) – Use this time to go shopping in the Vanguard Bookstore and buy VU gear for your student or family. Shopping is also available at the Orange County Swap Meet, SoCo Farmer’s Market, The Outlets at Orange and more.

Blame it on the Movies: A Musical Review (Lyceum Theater) – 7:00 pm. $19 for General Admission, $15 for Seniors (60+), $13 for Children (6-12) & VU Students; Tickets must be purchased through vanguardtickets.com

Athletics (Biola University)- Women’s Soccer & Men’s Soccer vs. Biola University

Intramurals (Sand Volleyball Courts) – 1:45 PM – 4:00 PM. Sand Volleyball Tournament. (Coed teams of 4. Sign-ups will take place at the court form 1:45 PM – 2:00 PM. First come, first serve to 10 teams). Tournament from 2:00 PM – 4:00 PM (or until winner is shirted). Winners will receive a VU Red Championship T- Shirt!

4:30 PM - 6:00 PM

Dinner (Cafe) – Adults=$5, Children (5-10)=$5 (cash only)

8:00 PM Popular Demand Show: Theater Department Sketch Comedy and Improv Team* (NMC)
