About Us
The Vanguard University Counseling Center (VUCC) works within the scope of its resources and seeks to employ the power of God for healing brokenness. We are committed to the integration of psychology and Christian beliefs, often expressed in prayer and scriptures with clients. If necessary, clients will be referred to outside professionals for issues beyond the scope of VUCC resources.
VUCC offers Christian care and compassion, competence and creativity, while seeking to share knowledge and empower individuals. It is within this atmosphere of love and God's free grace that we assist people in identifying and understanding negative emotions and destructive behaviors that are the result of life's problems. This process fosters change and growth by using new habits which contribute to more productive and healthy living.
One task of VUCC is to model the most effective integrative clinical services while equipping future Christian professionals. Since the counseling center serves as a training ground for graduate students in Marriage and Family Therapy, VUCC provides intensive supervision and evaluation of its clinicians by licensed Christian therapists.
