This study compared the relative role of different work stressors (such as social and workload stressors) in job satisfaction, affective commitment and retention of college and university faculty. In a sample of 124 faculty, social stressors (such as tensions with coworkers and administration) were predictive of low job satisfaction, low affective commitment and high turnover intentions after controlling for demographics, workload and other stressors.
