Davis, K., Deans, W., Moreno, R., & Dulin, N. (April, 2006). Freaking out from staying in. Poster session presented at the 13th Annual Psychology Research Fair at California State University, San Marcos, CA.
The purpose of this study was to better understand the relationship between stress and the health of college students. The participants were 280 male and female undergraduate students at Vanguard University of Southern California. Participants were administered a stress scale, health behavior questions, a self-esteem scale, and demographics. It was expected that there would be negative correlations between stress and the numerous health-related questions that were asked, and between stress and self-esteem. The findings supported our hypotheses. Stress and self-esteem were negatively associated (r = -.566). Additional findings and implications were discussed.
