DeAnna Griffin (2001)

DeAnna Griffin ’01 received her M.A. in International Disaster Psychology from the University of Denver in 2008. Currently, DeAnna is a Disaster Behavioral Health Specialist with SAMHSA DTAC (Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration Disaster Technical Assistance Center) in Washington, DC. “It is basically mental health programming for vulnerable populations as it relates to disaster or crisis. I am assigned to different federal crisis counseling programs with SAMHSA and FEMA. Plus I get to develop curriculum for federal training (which I love: training is my favorite part of what I have been doing for the last four years!). I was an expert reviewer for the Psychological First Aid for homeless teens. I just finished a white paper this week that will go before Congress to support the Behavioral Health response to the oil spill in the Gulf.”
