Homeless Work Featured on KCET and O.C. Register

So Cal Connected and the O.C. Register will be featuring the homeless work being conducted by Dr. Ed Clarke, Anthropology & Sociology Department, and the Costa Mesa Churches Consortium. KCET, Channel 28, will air footage taken on the day of the YOU Count—a census of homeless in Costa Mesa conducted October 22, 2012.  The program will air tomorrow, December 5, 2012, at 7:00 p.m. The O.C. Register will run an article by Mike Reicher on the homeless work in Costa Mesa on Friday, December 7, 2012.

Faith Development in Graduating Christian College Seniors

Dr. Elizabeth Powell, Assistant Professor of Psychology at Vanguard, and her colleagues from Azusa Pacific University recently had an article published in Christian Higher Education titled: “Faith Development in Graduating Christian College Seniors”. Dr. Powell’s qualitative study involved interviews with 12 students attending a Christian liberal arts college.

Sociology Professor Highlighted in OC Register for Homeless Census

Sociology Professor at Vanguard University, Ed Clarke, was recently highlighted in the OC Register. He was part of a citywide homeless census Monday morning. He trained volunteers in using photos and locating homeless individuals. This is part of a project to measure the growth of homelessness, and awareness of the challenges homeless people face. Faculty Honored for Career Service

Vanguard University’s Dixie Arnold, Chair of the Liberal Studies Department, was inducted into the Raytown School District (MO) Hall of Fame last weekend. This award was given to six graduates who were honored for their service, success, and positive representation of the district. Faith and Public Discourse Panel on Thursday

Vanguard University’s Dr. Darren Guerra, Associate Professor of Political Science, will be participating in a panel discussion on Faith and Public Discourse at Fuller Theological Seminary on Thursday at 7pm. He will be discussing alongside Scott Waller who is a professor of Political Science at Biola University, and New York Times bestselling author and CEO of Sojourners, Jim Wallis. Sonya True, Assistant Professor, Digital Initiatives Librarian

On May 30th at the OCLC “Celebrate a Decade and a Half of Change” banquet in Los Angeles, Sonya True was honored by OCLC’s America’s Regional Council and OCLC President and CEO Jay Jordan as Diversity Fellowship recipient – she was 1 of 2 chosen nationwide each year. OCLC Online Computer Library Center, Inc. (OCLC) is the worldwide nonprofit organization of information research and computer library services, dedicated to furthering universal access to information.  OCLC is widely-known as the creators of WorldCat, the global and largest online library catalog in the world.
