Vanguard University Governance
Vanguard University is governed by its Board of Trustees, the President of the University, and the President’s Cabinet.
The Board of Trustees at Vanguard University is an active group of pastors, businessmen and women, philanthropists, leaders, professionals, educators, and alumni that selflessly serve the University. The Trustees serve not only as an overseer of the University, but also directly participate in the policy-making process, steering and guiding Vanguard University into the future.
The Board of Trustees consists of men and women, each of whom brings valued experience and expertise to the University. The Board divides itself into a number of sub-committees that focus on select areas of the University for careful study, such as Academics, Advancement, Audit, Finance, and Student Life. Committees support and guide the work of the University administration, to position the University for growth and prosperity.
The President is an ex-officio member of the Board of Trustees and is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the University. As the University’s leader, Dr. Beals takes an active role in the educational and business processes of the University.
The Board of Trustees delegates authority to the President and her Cabinet for the leadership, management and operations of the University. The Cabinet consists of the President and her five vice presidents. The role of the Cabinet is to collaborate across all areas of the University in the strategic leadership of the University. The Cabinet advises the President, leads strategic planning efforts, establishes annual university goals in consultation with the President’s Council, facilitates decisions, carries out the directives of the President, and is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the University in their assigned areas.
The Cabinet includes the Provost/Vice President for Academic Affairs, Vice President for Business and Finance, Vice President for Enrollment Management, Vice President for University Advancement.
