Our Women’s Choirs Festival (SSA) festival will be held Tuesday, October 25 from 6:00-8:00 pm, and our Mixed Choirs Festival (SATB) will be held the following day on Wednesday, October 26 from 1:00-3:30 pm.

Our guest adjudicator this year is Barry Talley, the Executive Director of Fine Arts for the Deer Park Independent School District located in Houston, Texas. He served as the Choral Director at Deer Park High School for 34 years before moving into full time administration this past August. Deer Park Choirs under his direction have performed at the Texas Music Education Association convention on four occasions including 1989, 1993, 1997 and 2005. His choirs also performed for four National ACDA Conventions in 1991, 1993, 1995 and 2003. Mr. Talley is recognized as a choral composer and arranger with over 20 works published by Alliance Music and Hal Leonard. He also worked as one of the Choral textbook authors for the Glencoe/Hal Leonard Choral series, “Experiencing Choral Music.” He has recorded vocal parts for All State recordings in Texas since 1983 and also has provided this service for All State groups in Florida, South Carolina and New Mexico.

Talley has recorded over 800 songs for companies such as Silver Burdette, Alliance Music Publishers, Hal Leonard and Educational Enterprises Recording Company. Talley served as the President of the Texas Music Educator’s Association in 2000-2001. He has also served as the Music Director at the Deer Park United Methodist Church since 1982. He was recently honored by the Texas Choral Directors Association as a recipient of the Choral Excellence Award in 2013, so you and your chorus will greatly enjoy Barry Talley!
