Liberal Studies has a new full-time faculty member, Dr. Alex Lin. He will be teaching EDUC 100, Introduction to Education as well as EDUC 315, Teaching in a Multicultural Setting. You can read about Dr. Lin’s education and accomplishments here, http://www.vanguard.edu/liberalstudies/faculty/.
Dr. Chun-Burbank received her Doctor of Education in Curriculum & Instruction, as well as her Master of Arts in Early Childhood Education, from the University of Northern Iowa. She received a Master of Public Administration in Public Finance Management from California State University, Fullerton. Her Bachelor of Arts in Early Childhood Education is from Ewha Woman’s University in Seoul, Korea. In addition to her teaching and administrative experience at Pacific Oaks College in Pasadena, she served as a consultant for the Center for Constructivist Education in Seoul, Korea, where she designed curriculum and evaluated the effectiveness of published materials. Prior to her service at Pacific Oaks, Dr. Chun-Burbank was the program coordinator at the University of Alaska Southeast, where she built statewide partnerships with school districts, community organizations, and colleges. Her experiences in developing marketing strategies, managing faculty and staff, writing and managing grant projects, and providing academic guidance to students are highly regarded assets to Vanguard. We are excited to have her join our Liberal Studies faculty and look forward to her contributing to our university-wide quality programming.
Vanguard University alumnus Jacob Topete is the new principal at California Elementary in Costa Mesa. Jacob completed he undergraduate work in Liberal Studies and went on to receive his Master’s in Education in the Graduate Program of Education at Vanguard. Advising sign-ups begin on Monday, March 10 through Friday, March 14. There will be a table outside the Liberal Studies office in the Scott Building, first floor, #117. Advising appointments will be March 24 – April 4, 2014. Freshman advising will be Wednesday, April 2, with three times offered — 11:00, 12:00 or 1:00 p.m. Please arrive at your advising appointment on time, and bring a copy of your audit with you, as well as your portfolio.
