Rachelle Walker joined the Vanguard faculty in 2011. She received her doctorate from Claremont Graduate University’s school of Politics and Economics in 2015. She studied Comparative Politics and Political Philosophy, and wrote her dissertation on international law and the creation of new states in Sub-Saharan Africa, particularly South Sudan. Her interests include fragile and failed states, secessionist groups and sovereignty, as well as theories of poverty, development and international justice. She offers courses on Comparative Politics, Politics and Economics, International Relations, Sub-Saharan Africa, the Middle East, and World Civilizations I. She loves old questions and new problems, and seeks in each of her classes to have students engage in conversations with great thinkers of the past as well as key modern scholars.
