We welcome Dr. Jerry Ternes as our new Director of Graduate Education. Dr. Ternes has been in the Graduate Education department for 12 years and previously served as Dean and Director. The Graduate Education department is thrilled to have him back in his current leadership role. Dr. Ternes will continue teaching the Advanced Student Teaching Seminar course for Graduate Education students as well as the Senior Capstone Course for Liberal Studies undergraduates.
Randee Loya and Michelle Romo just returned from the Credential Counselors and Analysts of California’s annual conference in Sacramento. They attended a variety of sessions related to California teaching credential requirements, TPA, Title II reporting, English Language Learners, accreditation and the new Common Core Standards.
Dr. Sylvia Kane presented the results of her Faculty Diversity Research from academic year 2011-2012. Dr. Kane shared her work on the Santa Ana Field Experience Project in which she led a field experience project in Santa Ana with her Grad Ed students. This project was funded by the 2011-2012 Faculty Diversity Research Fund.
We have had a student worker for a month now and want you to meet him: Jacob Lane! Jacob comes to Vanguard from the high desert in So. California. You can read about him on our Community/Faculty & Staff page. We are glad to have Jacob as he does many things for the Graduate Education faculty and staff.
Welcome to our new Graduate Education Assistant Professor, Terri Munroe, Ph.D.!
Dr. Munroe comes to us from Newport Mesa Unified School District where she was a teacher, English specialist, and professional development trainer. Dr. Munroe has successfully worked with training teachers at the district level, as well as through credential programs at Concordia University and Vanguard University. She has held various consulting positions with the Commission on Teacher Credentialing.
Please welcome Dr. Munroe to Vanguard! We are blessed to have her teaching and mentoring our students!
