Women Veterans Reflection for 2013

The Women Veterans Network (WVN) is a project funded by the Employees Community Fund of Boeing California.  Through a grant to Vanguard University’s Global Center for Women and Justice in tandem with its Veterans Resource Center (VRC), the Women Veteran Network uses innovative ways to provide services to veterans as they transition from military service to civilian life and employment.   Since January 2013, the Women Veterans Network has hosted a variety of educational, professional, and social event for women veterans in Orange County.

2013 events include:

  • Women Veterans Across the Decades – March Women’s History Month event
  • StrengthsFinder character assessment + dinner – July Women Veterans Forum
  • Women in Leadership: Lindsey Sin, Deputy Secretary for Women Veterans Affairs – November Women Veterans Forum + Leadership lecture
  • Brunch & Spa day – December wrap celebration

We are so grateful for the partnership with the Employees Fund of Boeing California during 2013. We have been able to connect with and build opportunities for women who served our country, a great beginning to a safety net for women veterans in Orange County. The growing connections lead to new opportunities to meet with women in the military and allow them to build relationships with each other based on their shared experiences and find the best services to meet their needs.

We are looking forward to the end-of-the-year celebration with our Women Veterans Network members, both first time attendees and our faithful supporters. The 2014 year holds opportunities to strengthen relationships and provide new educational and professional development opportunities!
