The Global Center for Women & Justice (GCWJ) at Vanguard University is a faith-based organization that creates an environment for education, advocacy, and collaboration. Whether in our backyard or on the opposite side of the world, we are preparing young women and men to understand the impact of gender issues. We are a voice for those with no voice, breaking through walls of oppression and fear, attacking ignorance and apathy.
The Global Center for Women & Justice is actively involved in identifying gaps in knowledge about women’s needs resulting in increased opportunities for their spiritual, emotional and vocational success. The Center is constantly developing a knowledge-base that is applied to issues endemic to the female experience such as women in leadership and violence against women.
As an academic entity, the Center promotes the importance of delivering practical knowledge in various formats that will effect change in global culture. An inter-disciplinary Minor in Women’s Studies is offered at Vanguard University as a result of the work of GCWJ. Also, the Center hosts and co-hosts conferences, seminars and training events, focusing on women in leadership, the role of clergy in addressing family violence, the status of women in the church, gender and diversity sensitivity, pornography, trafficking, violence against women, career planning, peace building, women in the arts and media, and more. GCWJ strives to act as a clearinghouse, building a library of information on women’s issues.
The Global Center for Women & Justice is actively involved in promoting human rights wherever injustice prevails. It is a voice for those with no voice, breaking through walls of oppression and fear, attacking ignorance and apathy about the status of women.
