Roger Heuser, Professor of Leadership Studies in the School of Religion, is also a Director of the Judkins Institute for Leadership Studies.
He holds a Ph.D. from New York University, a M.A. from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School, and a B.A. from Trinity College. His professional interests include leadership, spirituality, conflict resolution, strategic planning, appreciative inquiry and mission in a global context. Roger has taught a variety of religion courses in graduate and undergraduate programs at Vanguard University with previous experience in academic administration. Roger has served as an adjunct professor at Fuller Theological Seminary, the Assemblies of God Theological Seminary, and other programs in Europe, Asia, and Latin America. He also serves as a consultant for judicatory agencies, seminaries, mission agencies, and local congregations. Before teaching at the university, Roger pastored for twelve years in the Chicago area.
Roger co-authored Leading the Congregation and Managing the Congregation, both with Norman Shawchuck and published by Abingdon Press. Other publications include Leadership and Team Building and Caregiving Leadership, both published by CMR Resources. He is also a consultant editor of the peer-reviewed journal, Transformation: An International Dialogue on Mission and Ethics.
Roger and his wife Gayle, a spiritual director and professional singer, reside in San Clemente, California.
