I joined the faculty at Vanguard University in 1999 after a rewarding career in human services. I am a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and was honored to work for nearly 30 years with people whose lives and relationships had been complicated by poverty, substance abuse, and mental illness. At Vanguard, I now have the opportunity to work with students who are preparing to enter the helping professions. The courses that I teach regularly are Survey of Human Services, Field Practicum, Counseling Theories, Group Dynamics, and Psychology of the Family. My primary teaching is in the School for Professional Studies where I serve as the Associate Chair for Psychology. I also teach in the traditional undergraduate program. The School of Psychology provides a supportive and challenging environment for students and faculty alike, and it is a privilege to be a part of this group. I recently authored a chapter on Substance Abuse and Treatment in Introduction to Human Services: Through the Eyes of Practice Settings. (Allyn & Bacon).

Apart from Vanguard, I enjoy spending time with family and friends. My husband, Doug, is also a professor in the School of Psychology. We participate regularly with Vineyard Homeless Christian Fellowship, an outreach to homeless individuals and families in Santa Ana.
