Dr. Martin L. Harris, a Director of the Judkins Institute for Leadership Studies, is an Associate Professor of Psychology. He holds the B.A. from the University of California, Irvine and the M.S. and PhD in Clinical Psychology from Washington State University. After, completing a professional psychology internship at UCLA, Professor Harris carried out postdoctoral work at Cornell University where he served as staff psychologist and Associate Director for Research, Planning and Behavioral Medicine. Subsequent to Cornell, Martin served as Program Officer and Assistant Director of the American Psychological Association Minority Fellowship Program, a program designed to provide funding for doctoral level studies in a number of disciplines including psychology, gerontology, medicine and neuroscience.
Dr. Harris has managed grants from several agencies including, the National Institute of Mental Health, National Science Foundation, National Institute on Aging, Substance Abuse Mental Health Services Administration and others. Dr. Harris’ research and clinical interests include psychopharmacology, developmental psychology, cross-cultural psychology and Faith and Mental Health. Harris, a licensed and ordained minister, has pastored a Homeless Church for nearly a decade, annually feeding, clothing, and providing a spiritual message to thousands.
Martin and his wife Nancy live in Orange County, California with their two daughters.
