Men's Tennis Blanks Biola
La Mirada, Calif – Biola Tennis Center – The Vanguard Lions recorded their first shutout of the season today when they defeated the Biola Eagles 9-0 in GSAC men’s tennis.
Vanguard began the match with a 3-0 lead as the Lions swept through doubles play with scores of 8-4, 8-2, and 8-2, respectively.
Thomas Frank posted a 6-0, 6-0 win in the No. 4 singles match, and Fredric Sandberg was nearly perfect with a 6-0, 6-1 victory in the top singles match. Tino Brodar (6-0, 6-3) and Sandro Bucher (6-0, 6-2) were also stellar in their singles wins for the Lions, and Vanguard sealed the shutout with straight set victories from Nils Iwdal (6-2, 6-1) and Blake Lamberth (6-2, 6-1) in the fifth and sixth singles matches.
VU’s men’s tennis team improves to 3-0 overall and 2-0 in GSAC with today’s win. The No. 6-ranked Lions continue the season next week at Concordia University.
