Sociology faculty and students present at CSA

img_7357Several Vanguard faculty and students participated in the California Sociological Association’s 27th Annual Conference on November 4-5, 2016.

Marlisse Holbrook presented her research, Exemptions from Vaccinations: School Mandated Reasons Parents are Afforded to Justify not Vaccinating their Child, at an undergraduate research session.

Dr. Ed Clarke, Chair of the Anthropology & Sociology Department, was the organizer and presider at another session on Student Involvement with Stigmatized Populations.  At this session, sociology major Megan Basalla presented her research, The Maker and the Model:  Comparisons in ‘Work Experience’ Homeless Programs, as well as two professors from Vanguard’s Sociology Department:  Dr. Sandra Morgan on Building Multi-disciplinary Approaches to Prevention and Early Intervention on Commercial Sexual Exploitation of Children and Dr. Stephanie D’Auria on Bridging the Gap: Creating a Safe Space for Learning Behind Bars.
