In case you missed it, this past Friday, June 28 through Sunday, June 30, Vanguard University celebrated the City of Costa Mesa’s 60th Anniversary along with thousands of people. Vanguard had a booth, and Samson made guest appearances throughout the weekend, adding energy and fun to the festivities which included a “Chef of the Fest” foodie contest, concerts from popular bands throughout the decades, a TasteFest of local restaurants serving up tasty dishes, an ArtWalk, a classic car show featuring vintage cars, a kids zone with games and rides, and more.
Vanguard was also featured in a special Costa Mesa magazine which showcased historical milestones. One of these includes Vanguard University – known as Southern California Bible College (SCBC) at the time – moving its campus from Los Angeles, California to its present location on Fair Drive. Sprinkled throughout the magazine are bits of interesting trivia. For example, did you know that Vanguard became Orange County’s first four-year college, just three years before Costa Mesa’s incorporation? Well, you do now!
On Saturday, interim President of Vanguard, Dr. David W. Clark, handed a proclamation to the City of Costa Mesa on behalf of Vanguard University congratulating the City on its 60th birthday.
Congratulations on your 60th Anniversary, Costa Mesa, California!
