DSC_3073On Tuesday, August 20, 2013, nationally syndicated radio host, law professor, and lawyer Hugh Hewitt interviewed Sandie Morgan, Director of the Global Center for Women & Justice at Vanguard University.   Hewitt starts out the interview by commending Morgan on the impact of her work with the Global Center for Women & Justice, which will be celebrating its 10th anniversary September 19-21.  Referring to Vanguard University as “one of the jewels of Orange County”, Hewitt discusses with Morgan the need for awareness about human trafficking, which gets a lot of global attention and yet it is just as much a local issue.

Morgan also talks about when she first experienced human trafficking when she was living in Athens, Greece with her husband for ten years, and how when the wall came down, she saw very young girls crossing the border into countries where prostitution was legal.  Says Morgan, “When I came back to the states, I was shocked to see the same thing happening here but no one was talking about it.”  This encounter, she explains, was the impetus for her to put her faith in action and combat human trafficking, violence against women, and other important issues women face.

In 2003, the Global Center for Women & Justice at Vanguard University began by offering a women’s studies minor and over those ten years, has continued to focus on women’s issues.  Morgan talks about how she has helped get Vanguard University students involved as the “hands and feet to do community, education, and outreach.”

The Global Center for Women & Justice at Vanguard University is a faith-based organization that exists to advance the global status of women through research, education, advocacy, collaboration and hope. The Global Center for Women & Justice promotes gender reconciliation and the inherent dignity of all persons.
