List of Orange County Icons Include Vanguard University

Costa Mesa, CA, March 3, 2014 – Vanguard University tops the list of 125 iconic people, places and things that make Orange County an amazing place to live, work and play. The County of Orange is commemorating its 125th birthday in 2014 with events and celebrations for its community of now 3 million residents.

From OC icons like the Old County Courthouse of Santa Ana, the county’s oldest city, to Mission San Juan Capistrano and the Richard Nixon Presidential Library and Museum, the list encompasses a wide range of places that Orange County residents know, love and dwell. Vanguard University, known for academic excellence and a Christ-centered community, is listed among the top 25 in district 2, alongside South Coast Plaza, Segerstrom Center for the Arts, OC Fairgrounds and others in Costa Mesa.

This history of the County of Orange dates back to 1889, when locals voted to separate from Los Angeles County and form the new County of Orange. Residents of the county enjoy the ideal climate, parks, beaches and other outdoor activities. Orange County is also a host to a wide range of tourist attractions and venues for professional sports, visual and performing arts. The thriving business economy as well as top-educated work force brings a special dimension to the area as well.


In 1989, the County of Orange commemorated its centennial, and now throughout 2014, the County will celebrate its 125th anniversary, also known as the Quasquicentennial.
