Vanguard University alums Maureen Rickman ’89 and Gene Rickman ’90 have been doing big things since they graduated from Vanguard.
Now the music pastor at Pacific Christian Center, Maureen has been presented with an exciting opportunity for her and her children’s choir to premiere the Dove Award winning Celeste Clydesdale’s new Christmas musical for 2011 entitled “The Great Christmas Giveaway.” Rickman, affectionately called Pastor Moe by most of her church member, and her choir will also be traveling to Universal City to premiere it at MusiCalifornia, the largest Christian music conference on the west coast.
“I have loved and performed many of Clydesdale’s musicals over the years and to be asked to work with her and her equally respected husband David T. Clydesdale is a total God thing,” says Rickman. “This is a dream God gave me many years ago and to see it come true shows you that God still specializes in things thought impossible!”
Gene taught in the classroom for 16 years before deciding to continue his education and receive his Administrative Services Credential. He has been a vice principal for four years and is currently at Lakeview junior high, where he has also added District Testing Coordinator to his title and in which he oversees all state, federal, and local mandated testing for the Orcutt Union School District. Gene is also a key member in Maureen’s music ministry as he helps her in a variety of capacities and makes her visions of set designs become a reality.
