Vanguard University’s School for Graduate and Professional Studies Begins New 25% Tuition Discount Program

Costa Mesa, CA, September 22, 2014 – Vanguard University announced that the School for Graduate and Professional Studies will now offer up to a 25% tuition discount through a new colleague discount program at the university. The colleague discount is currently in effect, encouraging students to take their academic journey with the support of colleagues and friends.

At Vanguard University, when four friends enroll in a professional studies program in the same semester, they each receive a 25% reduction in tuition .When three friends enroll the same semester in a graduate program, they each receive a 10% reduction in tuition.

The professional studies program at Vanguard University offers a bachelor’s degree in business, early childhood education, general education, nursing, religion, and psychology. Global Center for Women and Justice Furthered Advocacy and Awareness at Annual Orange County Luncheon

Costa Mesa, CA, September 17, 2014 – Vanguard University’s revered Global Center for Women and Justice (GCWJ) was host to over 300 supporters at the annual More Priceless Than Diamonds luncheon at the Balboa Bay Club on September 13, 2014. Success stories of human trafficking survival, awareness, and prevention were shared, along with the winners of the Center’s inaugural Diamond Award.

The annual luncheon raised awareness on one of the growing crimes in southern California, human trafficking. Jody Hassett Sanchez, formerly of ABC News and CNN, now acclaimed news and documentary producer, took the stage as keynote speaker. Hassett Sanchez spoke on human trafficking as a global issue, and gave her first-hand experience in the production of her film SOLD: Fighting the New Global Slave Trade. Ed Arnold, retired news anchor, KOCE-TV/PBS SoCal, served as emcee for the afternoon, and introduced an exclusive interview with Maria Hall Brown, of PBS SoCal, and survivor advocate and author, Shyima Hall. Hall spoke on her profound experience as a human trafficking victim, freed at age 12 from an upscale community in Irvine, CA.

A lively fundraiser bidding and opportunity drawing raised net over $75,000 combined for the GCWJ, going directly towards advocacy, education, and training programs in Orange County and around the world. At the close of the luncheon, the Global Center for Women and Justice announced the first-ever Diamond Award winners for those whose activities and commitment promote justice and dignity for human trafficking victims in Orange County. TAALK (Talk About Abuse to Liberate Kids) founder, Diane Cranley won for Outstanding Business, Bobbi Dauderman, advocacy chair for Women of Vision won for Outstanding Individual, and Nicole Morris, youth volunteer for Frederick Douglass Family Initiatives, took the award for Outstanding Youth.

“This year’s More Priceless than Diamonds built on last year’s success, bringing amazing people together to study the complex issue of human trafficking in our own backyard and beyond,” said Dr. Sandra Morgan, director of the GCWJ. “But it went further than that, by resourcing education and training to equip our own community and beyond with excellence and building hope for a world without slavery.”

U.S. News & World Report Announces Vanguard University in Top 12 Best Colleges, #5 for Veterans Schools

Vanguard University Dedicates Theater Stage to Orange County Leaders, Ed and Dixie Arnold

Costa Mesa, CA, September 4, 2014 – The Vanguard University department of theatre arts dedicates its Lyceum Theater stage to Orange County community leaders and Vanguard University supporters, Ed and Dixie Arnold. The dedication of the Ed and Dixie Arnold Stage will take place at the Theatre Gala, Friday, September 19th on the campus of Vanguard University.

With a 60-year career in broadcasting, Ed Arnold is best known for his years as a sportscaster at KABC-TV Eyewitness News and KTLA-TV Sports. Also a retired Marine Corps veteran, Arnold also recently retired from broadcasting. Together with his wife Dixie Arnold, the couple has been named top supporters to prominent Orange County charities throughout the years, including Vanguard University’s acclaimed department of theatre arts. Dixie Arnold, in her 50th year in education, joined the Vanguard University faculty twelve years ago, where she now serves as chair of the department of liberal studies.

“When Dixie joined the Vanguard University faculty, we thought it would be a good idea to support as many campus activities as we could,” says Ed. “We quickly discovered the campus’s Lyceum Theater, and what we called ‘Orange County’s hidden treasure,’ added Dixie. “We are dedicated to supporting the exceptional plays performed by talented theatre students from this award-winning department.”

The ¾ thrust Ed and Dixie Arnold Stage will bring a new vibrancy on the campus of Vanguard University, to a stage where theatre majors and future actors, and producers, directors spend countless hours shaping their future careers. Hundreds to Gather to Raise Awareness for Justice for Women and Children in Orange County
