Can our division, club, ministry, team have its own template?
On professional websites it is important to work towards a branded Look and Feel, producing a feeling of consistency across the site that helps the user feel they are on the same website within the same institution. The Look and Feel should also convey something about the institution's professionalism, mission, and audience.
Our policy is to have fancy and sometimes slightly altered templates for the following MAJOR categories:
High-traffic subsites designated as high-value to the institution where it is important to convey a sense of uniqueness to the audience:
Athletics,
Community, and
Alumni/Development.
Ultimately, template redesigns are very costly to the institution in terms of the time required to design, implement and maintain their customizations. Therefore, our office is protecting the website from a maintenance nightmare with dozens of templates -in addition to protecting our institutional Look and Feel.

How can I edit my content using a MAC?
There is a mac WebEditor that will be installed on your SAFARI browser when you start editing your content. The only limitation on using a mac WebEditor is that you cannot Create or Edit Forms.
Why is my browser is showing a security message when I search the Vanguard site?
This is due to a security setting that effects campus users. This can be solved by doing the following:
1. Open Internet Explorer
2. From the Tools menu (top left of window) choose Internet Options
3. Choose the Security tab
4. Click the "Trusted Sites" icon in the upper middle
5. Click the Custom Level button
6. Scroll down 80% of the way to the bottom of the list and find, "Websites in less privileged web content zone can navigate into this zone"
7. Click "Enable" under this option
8. Click the "OK" button
9. Click the "OK" button again
Someone I know can't reach the Vanguard Website. Is there a way to fix this?
Computers find the Vanguard web site through an address lookup. In other words, just like you can't mail a letter to David Smith without David Smith's address, you can't find the Vanguard web site without the web site's address. Usually this process is handled behind the scenes for you, but you should understand that your computer is looking-up the address by contacting authorities who maintain address listings (sort of like dialing 411 or using a phone book).
Sometimes your computer can run into problems reaching yor local address authority or the address authorities may not know where the Vanguard web site resides. While this should NOT happen occasionally it does. There are a couple things you can do to solve this problem.
1. Call your ISP and report the problem. Ask them if they are having problems on their end seeing the Vanguard web site.
2. If you are a technical person: From a PC you may open the START MENU. Click RUN. Type in CMD or COMMAND and press enter. This will bring up a command prompt. From here type NSLOOKUP WWW.VANGUARD.EDU and press enter. You should get back a message that reads like this:
Server: vudc02.vanguard.edu
Address: 10.1.1.101
Name: www.vanguard.edu
Address: 66.161.76.168
If this is not what you got back then there may be a problem with your ISP. Call them up and report your findings. (Note that on campus users will see a different Address for the last entry.)
3. As a last resort you can make an entry that will manually direct your computer to the vanguard web site. This is is not the preferred way of dealing with web site addresses because addresses can change. However if all else fails you may do the following:
Open up the WINDOWS folder on your computer. Depending on the version in may be called WINNT or WINDOWS. From there find this directory WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\DRIVERS\ETC\. In that directory there will be a file called HOSTS. Open that file using NOTEPAD. You'll find NOTEPAD under START MENU\ACCESSORIES typically.
Once you have the HOSTS file open you will need to make these additions at the bottom of the file:
www.vanguard.edu 66.161.76.168
vanguard.edu 66.161.76.168
Save and close the HOSTS file. Now try browsing to www.vanguard.edu
Essentially what we are doing here is overriding the VPN with a manual address entry that will help the computer find the vanguard website.
There are these weird gray boxes and line breaks in my Content. AKA: How do I turn off Smart Tags in Word?

What are the best web safe fonts?
Here is the short list, but for a great article go here.
| Mac | PC | Comments |
| Verdana | Verdana | Great readability |
| Georgia | Georgia | Great readability |
| Trebuchet | Trebuchet | Good overall font |
| Helvetica | Arial | Problematic in small fonts |
| Times | Times New Roman | Old school look |
| Courier New | Courier New | Looks like old computer type |
Typically you'll want to list your fonts in threes so that if the computer browsing does not have the first font - then it will go to the next. E.g. <font face= "verdana, arial, helvetica">
