Talented young people from grade school to grad school have the opportunity to expand their horizons with technology while deepening their understanding of how America works. They need only submit a compelling video clip for a chance at international recognition and a trip to the nation's capital to visit historic landmarks and meet important lawmakers and government officials.
Students in elementary, junior/middle, high school, and college are eligible to enter the EMPOWERED EDUCATION student video awards - produced by the eSchool News (http://www.eschoolnews.com/empowered/) in cooperation with the Pearson Foundation (http://www.pearsonfoundation.org/)
To qualify, students make a three-to-five minute original video on the theme of "How Technology Helps Me Learn." Winning entries will be those produced by students in the best journalistic style illustrating how their schools or colleges are employing technology to advance learning.
Students from all educational levels compete for
-- an expenses-paid trip to the nation's capital,
-- a guided tour of national monuments and capital highlights,
-- honor at a gala awards ceremony,
-- recognition and prizes for themselves and their schools,
-- an international showcase for their work,
-- a chance to meet lawmakers and dignitaries,
-- free mentoring from the Digital Arts Alliance (http://www.digitalartsalliance.org/), and
-- news releases about their achievement for hometown news media.
