Want to babysit for fun families?
Find them at a MommyMixer®.
Babysitting is fun, but it's even better when you can cherry pick the families you work for. When you attend a MommyMixer® event, you'll meet 20 moms actively looking for babysitters. Whether you want to work 20 hours a week or occasionally on nights and weekends, MommyMixer is an easy way to make connections with families whose children and schedules fit your life. Attending the Mixer is free for babysitting candidates (it's the moms who pony up the money), and it only takes about an hour. Our Mixers always take place at cool boutiques and hot spots, and there's generally a shopping discount, so even if you don't meet any families you like (which, um, hasn't happened yet), you can still eat some snacks and get some bargains. If you are unable to attend a Mixer, you can still send in your résumé to be included in The Babysitter Book™, and moms will contact you.
Here's how it works...
Before the Mixer
- Tell us you want to attend a Mixer! Send an email to orangecounty@mommymixer.com so we can save you a spot. Don't forget to let us know which Mixer date.
- Fill out the MommyMixer babysitter résumé one week prior to the Mixer. Be sure to fill out all fields as you go along. This résumé is the best way for moms to get to know you and compare schedules, experience, and more (because you never know who's going to be looking for a sitter who plays the cello). Including a photo makes it easier for moms to remember who was who once they get home.
- By submitting a résumé, you are committing to attend the next Mixer scheduled in your city. After you've submitted your resume, a MommyMixer representative will contact you to confirm your spot at the Mixer.
- If you can't attend, you can still submit a résumé to be included in The Babysitter Book™ that all moms receive. Be sure to notify the City Manager in your city that you cannot attend, but want your resume included in the book. Contact emails for City Managers can be found on each city page.
At the Mixer
- Show up 15 minutes prior to the start of the mixer, smile a lot and sign in.
- Shop and chat until the Mixer officially begins.
- You and the other candidates will briefly introduce yourself. Highlight your experience, age-levels of children you are most comfortable caring for and any special skills - swimming coach, able to help with homework, comfortable cooking dinner for children, happy to help with other needs in the home.
- Listen to moms as they introduce themselves. Note the moms that you want to approach.
- Mix and mingle with moms who seem like a match. Shop, talk, laugh and leave whenever you want!
After the Mixer
- Wait for moms to call and email.
- Please respond to everyone, even if it's just to tell them you are busy/booked.
- Have fun babysitting!
