    News Interns needed

SNS : Safe Worlds News Service

    Producer: Mark Joseph
    Coordinating Producer: Laura Kobzeff
    Assistant Producer: Simona Harwer

    News Interns

SNS will film a news broadcast on Mondays and Thursdays. Each broadcast will feature approximately 5 news stories; covering global news, national news, politics, entertainment and human interest stories. Footage will be edited after taping, images will be added to the stories, and the broadcast will be posted on Safe Worlds News Channel the day after filming.

Interns will be needed to help in the following areas: copywriting, gathering images compatible with news stories, and auditioning for anchor positions (optional).

5 News Stories: Copywriters will be responsible for locating 5 news stories and re-writing them for broadcast. Generally speaking, 1 story should be chosen in each of the following categories: international, national, political, entertainment and human interest. Categories are a guideline but not a requirement. Headline news will determine which categories are most important for that day. Stories can be found on the Associated Press, Reuters, PR Newswire and/or websites with RSS feeds from these sources, such as Breitbart.com.

Copywriters will be able to gather stories the day before filming, but MUST check headline news the morning of the shoot to see if anything supersedes what they have already found.

5 Images Per Story: Copywriters must also locate 5 images per news story. The images will be added to the broadcast in post-production. Images can be located on news sites or Google Images.

Deadline: 9:00 a.m..: All stories and images must be submitted to the News Editor by 9:00 a.m. on the day of filming. This is a hard deadline, time is required to review content and prepare the news anchor for a broadcast.

Anchoring: If interested, an intern may audition for anchoring the news. The candidate must submit a demo tape of reading the news) to the News Editor (film quality is not important, a web-cam can be used). The tape will be reviewed, and if selected, an on-set screen test will be scheduled. If an intern is chosen to anchor SNS, they will not be compensated financially. They will, however, receive a reel of their work, school credit and/or experience for their resume.

If you have any questions, please contact the Coordinating Producer, Laura Kobzeff, at laurakobbs@gmail.com.

Thank you for your interest in Safe Worlds News Service!
