What is Psi Chi?
Psi Chi was founded in 1929 for the purposes of encouraging excellence in scholarship and advancing the science of psychology. Membership is awarded to students who are majoring (or minoring) in psychology and meet the qualifications. Psi Chi is a member of the Association of College Honor Societies and is an affiliate of the American Psychological Association (APA) and the American Psychological Society (APS).
Vanguard University of Southern California established a local chapter of Psi Chi in 1994. Membership in Psi Chi is an earned honor which is recognized nationally. Psi Chi provides a forum for sharing information about the field of psychology, learning about educational and career opportunities, and forming meaningful professional networks. In addition, Psi Chi has a significant service component, in which we seek meaningful ways to serve those around us.

What are the qualifications for membership in Psi Chi?
- Completion of at least three semesters of college (by the end of the current semester)
- Completion of 9 semester hours of courses required for the psychology major (by the end of the current semester)
- Registration as a psychology major (or minor)
- 3.0 overall cumulative GPA
- 3.5 cumulative GPA for coursework required for the psychology major (or minor)
- High standards of personal behavior
- Two-thirds affirmative vote of Psi Chi members present at a regular chapter meeting

Jennifer Murzynski wins national award!
Jennifer Murzynski (Class of 1995) distinguished herself (and brought national attention to Vanguard) by winning the 1995 Psi Chi/J.P. Guilford Undergraduate Research Award. Jennifer Murzynski conducted original research on "Body language of women and judgments of vulnerability to sexual assault ." For additional details on her research (later published in the Journal of Applied Social Psychology) you may read her abstract. Congratulations to Jennifer Murzynski!

How do I go about applying for membership in Psi Chi?
Complete and submit the following application to one of the Psi Chi officers or the Psi Chi Faculty Advisor (Dr. Noreen Dulin). If your application is approved, there is a one-time, $45 membership fee and a $5 annual chapter fee.
