kaitlinmcghee.jpgHi! My name is Kaitlin McGhee and I will be a junior/senior this year at Vanguard University. I started at Vanguard as a psychology major my freshman year, but I had no idea where I wanted to go with it. After taking my first few psychology courses, I knew I was in the right major; I loved my professors and found the material we learned fascinating. I love my psychology classes because a lot of what I learn applies directly to my life, and I know that I can and will use what I’m learning for the rest of my life. Psychology is a cool major because you can do so many different things with it and go in so many different directions. The required classes offer a sneak peek into the many different aspects of psychology, so you can see what’s out there and decide what interests you most.

I came to Vanguard because I wanted a Christian community and small classes. I got just what I wanted, and I feel so lucky to be here! We get to learn from a Christian point of view, which, coming from a public school background, is amazing. The small class size allows us to ask questions during lectures and get one-on-one help from our professors. Also it allows students to get to know their professors personally. The psychology professors are awesome; they really care about the students and want to help each of us succeed. The professors at Vanguard are more than just teachers; they act as academic advisors and spiritual mentors as well. They are flexible and willing to work with the students. I played soccer for Vanguard my freshman year, and my professors were happy to fit me in to their full classes and work around my schedule. Help is always available if you need it; the professors really want to see students do the best that they can.

If you are thinking about coming to Vanguard, I encourage you to visit the campus and see what we’re all about! It’s a great idea to sit in on a class in order to get a feel for the learning environment here and decide if it works for you. If you have any questions about being a psychology major here, or a Vanguard student in general, feel free to email me! I would love to answer your questions and be a help in your search for the right school. My email is Kaitlin.McGhee@vanguard.edu. May the Lord bless you and guide you through this next chapter in your life! Hope to see you at Vanguard!
